Regulations & Market Pressure

December 19, 2007… President George Bush Signed H.R. 6, the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007

The Energy Policy Act of 2005 (Pub.L. 109-058) is a statute that was passed by the United States Congress on July 29, 2005 and signed into law by President George W. Bush on August 8, 2005 at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Act, described by proponents as an attempt to combat growing energy problems, provides tax incentives and loan guarantees for energy production of various types.

2005 … California Energy Commission (CEC) adopted changes in 2005 to the Building Energy Efficiency Standards, for a number of compelling reasons, including; responding to the energy crisis, reduction of energy bills, increasing energy delivery system reliability, and contributing to an improved economic condition for the state. The European Commission’s Energy Efficiency Action Plan, similarly aims to reduce Europe’s energy consumption 20% by the year 2020.

EnergyStar: To create momentum for energy performance improvements within individual manufacturing sectors, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has teamed with thousands of partner organizations to develop programs such as the ENERGY STAR Industrial Focuses program. Focuses is designed to provide manufacturers with a proven energy management strategy to help companies measure current energy performances, set goals, track savings and reward improvements.

The International DarkSky Association: The IDA and other organizations are promoting Lighting Ordinances which preserve and protect the nighttime environment.

The GAP

The financial community and private industry are betting heavily on the Light Emitting Diode (LED) as the answer to market demands for sustainable lighting. The LED however is years away from having the necessary cost, manufacturing consistency or lighting quality to penetrate residential lighting markets. The current leader, compact fluorescent lighting, has color, quality and environmental negative traits that all but eliminate it as a long term solution.  See full article at http://www.edn.com/blog/1700000170/post/510023251.html .

The Opportunity

The opportunity is in delivering the incandescent light replacement solution, now that H.R.6 has banned the incandescent.

It used to be that the big ate the small, now it’s the fast that eat the slow…Those companies first to market with Green Efficient and Environmentally Friendly Lighting Solutions will set pricing and dominate market share.

The opportunity is in delivering the incandescent light replacement solution, now that H.R.6 has banned the incandescent. CFL’s contain mercury, poor light quality and do not work in temperature extremes in additional to needing to be “on” for 20 minutes to achieve efficiency. LED’s are too costly and have significant thermal and other requirements.

OMNILUX believes not in a “single magic solution” but rather a combination of technologies to meet the wide-ranging needs of the diverse lighting markets. One such combination consists of combining the LED lumens per watt & size advantages with “OMNILUX SHAPE OF LIGHT” capability delivering both efficiency and performance.
